Paul Bonnard (Rossano Brazzi), growing up by reading his father's diaries and listening to his adventures, embarks on a journey to find his father's remains lost in the Sahara desert and to discover the mysterious lost city of Ophir filled with hidden treasures mentioned in the diaries. For this, he travels to Africa, specifically Timbuktu.
