"The Rite/Ayin" is a film that tells the story of Michael Kovak (played by Colin O'Donoghue), a theology student sent to the Vatican to study exorcism rituals. Inspired by true events, the film explores the controversial practice of exorcism and Michael's own doubts about his faith. Michael, who skeptically investigates the psychological elements behind possession cases rather than attributing them to demons, challenges his superiors to look beyond the conventional methods.
However, when he is assigned to work with Father Lucas (played by Anthony Hopkins), known for his unorthodox approach and thousands of successful exorcisms, Michael's skepticism begins to crack. As they encounter a case that even Father Lucas struggles to handle, Michael witnesses a violent and terrifying evil that defies explanation and pushes him to question everything he believes in.
Directed by Mikaël Hafstrom, "The Rite/Ayin" stars Oscar-winning actor Anthony Hopkins, newcomer Colin O'Donoghue in his first leading role, as well as Alice Braga, Toby Jones, Ciarán Hinds, and Rutger Hauer.
